Whether you are a parent seeking a Buddy Bike for your child, or a medical professional seeking therapeutic activities for your patients, or an organization seeking equipment for your members, we hope this quiz will help you determine if The Buddy Bike would be the safest and most suitable option for your riders.

Does someone in your family or someone you know have special needs that prevent them from riding a bicycle safely on their own?
The Buddy Bike might be for you!

The Buddy Bike is an alternative tandem bicycle with rear seat steering. It is a bicycle for riders with special needs providing adaptive and therapeutic cycling for riders with autism, down syndrome, sight impairment, balance issues, low muscle tone and other disabilities that would prevent them from riding a bike safely on their own. The Buddy Bike is an excellent tool for teaching beginner riders of various ages and abilities.

The Buddy Bike might be for you.

The person with disability rides the front of The Buddy Bike. They don't need to have cycling skills to get started but they do need to be able to sit upright on a typical bicycle seat or our optional Sunlite Backrest saddle which has a wider seat and small backrest but no harness or side supports.

Is the combined weight of both riders under 380 pounds?
The Buddy Bike might be for you.

The Buddy Bike is safety-rated for up to 380 pounds. Weights beyond this limit may be unsafe and could create faster wheel wear and tear and frequent spoke breakage.

Is the adult rear seat rider as tall as or taller than the front seat rider?
The Buddy Bike might be for you.

While we do not list maximum height limits on the Buddy Bike, it is necessary that the rear seat rider be as tall as or taller than the front seat rider in order to safely steer the bicycle. The limits will be set by the height of the rear seat adult rider. Front seat riders at about 5'10" and above may feel cramped and uncomfortable on the front seat. Also consider your child's age and if they will grow taller than you in a few months, or a few years. If the front rider does not grow taller than the adult rear seat rider, you may be able to ride The Buddy Bike indefinitely!

Considering the adult rider, does that person have cycling skills and the strength and ability to manage the bicycle, themselves, and the front seat rider?
Hooray! The Buddy Bike might be a great option for your family!
