***STOLEN BIKE ALERT - CHICAGO***
A Buddy Bike Sport 2010 model silver frame with 27 speed Shimano Deore hub was stolen at the Canon Drive parking lot at the Lincoln Park Zoo. There are only 16 Buddy Bikes in the Chicago area. But no more than SIX including the stolen bike with silver frames AND Shimano Deore 27-speed hub. Buddy Bike provides safety for child riders. When your child is too big for the baby seat and too small to ride alone, riding with your child behind you on the old-fashioned tandem or tag-along bike can be a risky experience. With the Buddy Bike, your child sits directly in front of you, between your arms. You no longer have to twist around to check on your child, losing your balance and risking an accident. On the Buddy Bike, children feel that they are in charge while being close to the arms and security of the parent or caregiver. What a great way for a child to learn how to bike safely, exercise and enjoy real quality family time! The Buddy Bike can be a useful tool for teaching older riders how to ride a bike. The Buddy Bike is the ultimate family bike that can be enjoyed by riders of all ages and makes a wonderful addition to any bike rental fleet.

Special needs...special bike. The Buddy Bike is the alternative tandem bicycle for riders of all abilities. The Buddy Bike's innovative design and safety features provide children with special needs an opportunity for social interaction and  physical exercise that would otherwise be unavailable. To read about the therapeutic benefits of the Buddy Bike for kids with autism, down syndrome, sight impairment, hearing impairment and other low incidence disabilities or minor physical disabilities visit our Special Needs web page.   SPECIAL NEEDS

A Note from Generation Rescue via Facebook (4/14/11)
Jenny McCarthy's Autism Organization

"The buddy bike is an amazing thing for children on the spectrum. What we found from the families that tried it was that it was really good for sensory integration and motor skills as well as building up the weaker muscle groups and working on balance. We found the kids were showing more self confidence because they were accomplishing a task they may not otherwise be able to do, and the bike was great at not only allowing them to accomplish these tasks but reinforced the behavior because they could continue to do well. Also, it is wonderful for the kids because they get to interact with their parents and from the parents perspective they get the simple joy of riding bikes with their children. We love the buddy bike!"   SPECIAL NEEDS
