Buddy
Bike, LLC, the manufacturer of the
Buddy Bike®, an
alternative in-line tandem bicycle that places
the stoker in front seat, is celebrating 10 years of building
bicycles that encourage
more families to cycle, especially families with special needs
children who might otherwise never enjoy the thrill of riding a
bicycle.
In the early
1990s, Robert Gardner of Willits, California invented the "The
Love Bike." In 2005, Barry Nelson realized the benefit of the bike
for special needs children because he enjoyed riding it with his
son, Jesse, who has autism. Barry bought the patent and formed
Buddy Bike, LLC. Since the first official Buddy Bike sale on
August 15, 2005, over 800 Buddy Bikes have been
shipped to families, schools, camps and organizations providing
outdoor recreation and therapeutic activity to countless special

Owner of Buddy Bike, LLC through a trust in his son's name, had

sports organizations worldwide, organized two

sponsor each year in the annual Michaela Noam Kaplan
Great Bike Giveaway, a contest sponsored by
The Friendship Circle that gave away 144 adaptive bicycles to
special needs children in March 2015.
