North Miami
Beach, FL, February 10, 2015 -
Buddy
Bike, LLC has partnered with
The Friendship Circle of Michigan, a non-profit organization
that provides programs and support to the families of individuals
with special needs, and other bicycle manufacturers to give away
adaptive bicycles to special needs children in the fourth annual
Michaela Noam Kaplan
Great Bike Giveaway.
The
Friendship Circle created the Great Bike Giveaway to give adaptive
bikes to as many special children as possible and to offer them
the same freedom, confidence and pride that everyone feels when
the ride a bike for the first time.
Buddy Bike joined other
adaptive bicycle manufacturers such as AMBUCS, Flaghouse, Freedom
Concepts, Mobo Cruiser, Rifton, Strae, Strider, The Duet and Triaid
to support the contest. Buddy Bike donated two of their alternative inline tandem bicycles,
called the Buddy Bike® which places the smaller rider in the front seat.
The features of the Buddy Bike offer adaptive outdoor recreation
and therapeutic activity to riders with cognitive or physical
disabilities who may not be able to ride a bicycle safely on their
own or who do not have the strength to pedal a bike alone.
The Great Bike
Giveaway, which takes place February 10 through March 4, 2015, is
an online contest which utilizes social media to promote the
giveaway and fundraising. Awareness and participation in the
contest has grown steadily since it began in 2012. In 2012 there
were 200 entries and 18 bicycle prizes; in 2013 there were 400
entries and 29 bicycle prizes; in 2014 there were 1369 entries and
108 adaptive bicycles, including 13 Buddy Bikes, were awarded as
prizes. The event organizers have set a goal to give away over 250
adaptive bicycles to special needs children in the 2015 contest.
