HOME | EVENTS | GROUP RIDES | JUNE 21 OASIS | JUNE 22 GROUP RIDE

A special thanks to our sponsors, "Ethel's SAG Wagon" and the families who participated in our Buddy Bike Group Ride in Ohio. The ride gave everyone some time to enjoy nature, breath some fresh air, see historic sites and enjoy some family time. The scenery was spectacular with tons of trees and rolling rivers. The trail somehow seemed to be downhill in both directions! Meaning it wasn't too difficult in either direction. Some of the riders saw deer on the trail and we saw a wicked looking snapping turtle! The beavers were sleeping but we saw their homes built in the Beaver Marsh. We finished off the day with some lunch at the Winking Lizard and just avoided the rain. I'm looking forward to more rides in Ohio. The trails are wonderful, our riders are friendly and it makes for an enjoyable family day.

Thank you!
Shelley at  Buddy Bike

History, Nature and Family Fun!

The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, located in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park is a 19.5-mile trail following the route of the historic Ohio & Erie Canal and is designated as the park's main bicycling trail. Ten trailheads provide access for cyclists to use this relatively flat, crushed-limestone-surfaced trail. The Buddy Bike Group Ride will start at the Boston Store in Boston Township. Riders will travel approximately 7 miles south to the Beaver Marsh Boardwalk Viewing Platform to observe wildlife and enjoy the scenic natural surroundings. Riders will turn around to return to The Village of Peninsula for lunch and to visit this quaint village which features shops, art galleries and historic landmarks. Riders may opt to turn around at any point to shorten the ride distance or they may ride the train for $2 per person (schedule is limited see the Train Schedule). Water and restrooms are available along the trail at the Boston Store, Lock 29 Trailhead and Hunt Farm Visitor Information Center. For more information about the points of interest on the trail, view the Interactive Trail Tour.

A limited number of Buddy Bikes will be provided by reservation. For your safety, we ask that ALL riders wear helmets on our Group Rides, not just the kids! Children must be accompanied by parents at all times. There are no fees to participate but please bring money for lunch at one of the Peninsula Village restaurants. All bicycles are welcome so feel free to invite your friends!

Peninsula Village - www.explorepeninsula.com
Peninsula is a quaint historic village in the center of Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It hosts a variety of shops including art galleries, antique shops, restaurants, bicycle rentals, and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad depot. This canal town was the location of the largest canal aqueduct in the Cuyahoga Valley which carried the canal over the Cuyahoga River. The foundation of that aqueduct and the remains of a lock can be seen adjacent to the Lock 29 Trailhead in the heart of town. Peninsula is located on State Route 303, two miles east of Interstate 271 and three miles west of State Route 8 between Cleveland and Akron, Ohio.

Stop by Yellow Creek Trading Company on June 22 between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM and bring your herb questions. You'll have an opportunity to visit with Kathleen Varga of Crooked River Herb Farm, and sample delicious offerings of a variety of her products.

Make it a full-day family adventure!
